Jixuan Zhou
Artist Bio
Born in 1984, Xuan is an artist and illustrator currently based in Singapore. She is interested in exploring the possibilities of higher dimensions, parallel universes, and especially the elusive foundations that build our perceptions of existence and the self.

Daniela Beltrani
Artist Bio
Classically educated in Italy, a doctor in Law and a docent for the Singapore Art Museum, Daniela gained a Master of Arts in Contemporary Asian Art Histories in 2011 from LaSalle CIA, Singapore.
Since 2010 Daniela has curated four exhibitions and written articles for art publications. In June 2011 she set up a performance art platform, named SPAM.
Her interest in performance art both as spectator and performer allows her to explore different levels of communication.

Artist Statement
The ironic title of the performance anticipates a smokescreen of distractions in line with the incoherent image of the white woman begging for food.
The intended issue is the exploration of compassion within students, whilst they are busy building their future and enjoying a world full of possibilities.
Beggars are not born as such, they become so for a myriad of reasons.
Their presence is never welcomed, perhaps because they are a harsh reminder of the possibility of failure and its consequences.
In 45 minutes and besides the curious crowd, only two people donated respectively money and a sandwich and engaged in meaningful, non-judgmental conversation.
From the artist’s point of view, it was a lesson in humility and on the detrimental effect of the inappropriate use of religious imagery, even despite any intention to offend.
Finally, an anonymous complaint caused the interruption of the durational performance and the removal of all subsequent performances to another site and for this unfavourable effect, the artist wishes to apologise to the organiser and the fellow performers.

Artist Statement
‘Green Eyes’ attempts to demonstrate the narcissist nature of performance art; a desire to be watched through the eyes of the people, the camera, through live web streaming, and further feeding this self-obsession by extending observations of the people watching the performance.

Li Cassidy-Peet
Artist Bio
Li Cassidy-Peet is an artist from London now resident in Singapore since 2005. Born in West Germany, of dual parentage Russian and Montenegrin. She studied Fine Art at Goldsmith’s College, University of London and Theater Studies at NW5 Theater school, London.
Cassidy-Peet works in mixed media from installation, sculpture, drawing, video, working with photographs and recently again in performance art. Her art practice involves a variety of commonly available materials from ready-mades to everyday industrial materials that she combines and transforms.
Using a mix of paraphernalia the poetic meets the sober and the simple embraces kitsch, her work possesses a psychy and sensual energy. Taking the position of a perpetual outsider turning her eye on the social and cultural from human behavior exploring notions of pleasure, desire and obsessions, to organization of urban space and its effects this can bring.
She has exhibited in London, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Artist Statement
It is about listening, listening to every thing, listening to difference.
It is about trying to make sense of things, that others are in denial of.
It is about injustice, discrimination and all that comes with it. The handkerchiefs are for a daily crime against humanity, against some innocent person.
